Large Front Room Converts to Home Office Lounge

This homeowner in suburban Downers Grove had already remodeled her home, refinishing the wood floors and painting throughout. She hired Authentic Interiors to tackle a large front room that wasn’t serving any purpose, so we were able to start from a blank slate. After noticing she was working out of her kitchen, I suggested a more dedicated and comfortable spot for productive work, one that also gave her an amazing amount of natural light from the front windows.

The room was big enough to accommodate both the home office and a cozy lounge for relaxing. We created a floor plan layout with two identical-sized rugs that delineated the office and lounge spaces within the room. Authentic Interiors sourced a credenza for behind the large desk that perfectly accommodates the homeowner’s existing record player and vinyl record collection.

Adjacent from these we added an electric fireplace with a wood mantel that fit seamlessly on an empty wall and looks completely built-in. It creates an amazing focal point and adds warmth both literally and figuratively within the space.
