Uptown Condo Upgrade

A retired couple sought a remodel and refurnish of their dated one-bedroom condo to safely share together and proudly welcome nearby family members. Their love of Florida inspired a relaxed and soothing coastal palette of sandy browns and watery blues and greens.

Replacing old carpet with luxury vinyl tile brought freshness, cleanability and softness underfoot. The neutral color complemented a patterned 100% wool rug in the living area, along with blackout window treatments there and in the bedroom to block heavy sun and streetlamps on their busy street.

To hide the client’s treadmill from the main living area, we specified a custom-upholstered screen to fit in the nook and easily move for access. Unique materials—caning, rope and rattan—in the lighting and furnishings added warm, coastal texture throughout.

In the kitchen, the cabinets were in a condition to sustainably salvage with cleaning and paint, and we used a soft sage color on the lowers to brighten the space and complement the existing granite they wished to keep for budget purposes.

The most important bathroom update included removing the tub and creating a safe doorless entry shower, complete with two stylish grab bars, a shampoo niche and a shaving niche. The lighting was updated with a dimmer for control, and a new vanity featured integrated electric and storage for hair styling tools for ease in getting ready every day.
